Who are we?

Turaton Music Company is a not for profit theatrical group.  Our company comprises over 40 members from diverse backgrounds, drawn together by a love of singing and theatre.  Our company is headed by a committee of up to 12 members and each year puts on shows for the enjoyment and benefit of local communities.

Turaton started life in 1944 as the Tatura Male Choir, providing entertainment around the Tatura district, west of Shepparton, Victoria.  In past years, the company has performed many major musicals, including The Merry Widow, The Mikado, Naughty Marietta, Die Fledermaus, H.M.S Pinafore, Show Boat and Fiddler on the Roof.

The company has changed over the years, but maintains a wide theatrical talent, both on and off-stage, of women and men with ages ranging from 17 to 70.

What do we do?

Today, the company focuses on a May concert, with choral and solo pieces and an end of year theatrical show.  Turaton puts on these shows in conjunction with local charitable organisations, such as Lions, Rotary and Parkinsons’ Support Group, to name a few.  These groups combine with Turaton to raise money for their organisations, which in turn is returned to the community in other charitable works.

Rehearsals commence in late January for the May concert and in July/August for the November show.
