Auditions for end of year show

Got talent?  Want to show it?  Our end of year show is a vaudeville style music hall called “Naudeville” and is being coordinated by Keith Bryant.  It will be in three acts and will run on 6, 7, 8, and 13, 14 & 15th of November at various locations around the Goulburn Valley.

The show is going to be a little naughty and may involve some cross dressing, skits, solos and group singing.  Act 2 will be part of “Murder in the Music Hall” and Act 3 is a secret (maybe Keith hasn’t worked it out yet?).  Keith asks can anyone sing the “Pheasant Pluckers Song”?

Do you think you can act, sing, tell a few jokes?  Then come along for the fun.   An information night is being held in the “SHED” at 252 Pike Road, Mooroopna at 7.30pm on Monday the 3rd of August.  Please bring a plate of supper to share.  Phone Keith on 03 5826 5499 for more information.  Information will also be on our web site www.turatonmusicco.org.au

May concert wrap up

Our May concert, “At the Movies” was an outstanding success.  There were good audience numbers again and many of the members received very favourable comments when talking to the audience after the performances.  Thanks to all our superb singers, our musical director Geoff, stage and lighting Ian and George, Bill Milner for towing the trailer to all the shows and anyone else that assisted with the running of the concert.

Working bee

A working bee will be held at “The Shed” on Sunday 2nd of August from 1.30pm for a couple of hours.   It would be greatly appreciated if members can spare some time for pre-spring cleaning and repairs.  Further details ph Rod Mauger 0419 104 877.

Member news

It was great to see Ollie Paez out and about at the Wesley performance.  She said she is coming along nicely health wise and loved our show.

Phil Banfield is having his other foot operation on Monday 27th of July.  Hope you will soon be tripping the light fantastic Phil.

Priscilla Collins has a bigger baby bump now, with the new arrival expected in about 4 weeks.

Jan Doherty has had the nasties removed from her face and is now recuperating.

Our sincerest sympathy goes to Megan Walker after the recent sad passing of her husband John.  We are all thinking of you Megan and send our love.

Black shirts

A word of warning re black shirts – make sure you wash them by hand as the black comes out very easily.  Hang them out wet to drip dry and they won’t need to be ironed.

Gas Heater For Sale

Turaton is selling its industrial fan forced LPG gas heater for $590 ONO.  It will heat a large area very quickly.  If you know of anyone that could use this heater, please ph Michael Dargan on 0427 808 602 for further information.

Welsh Choir

The Victoria Welsh Choir is visiting Shepparton and will be singing in the CHURCH at St Augustine's at 2.30pm on Sunday 9th August.  They have selected a variety program, presenting popular classics, well-loved hymns, light opera and music from the shows.  Maybe Rod's Hallelujah will feature.

The cost for the Victoria Welsh Choir is $25 (includes drinks and nibbles afterwards) and are available at the church office (ph 5821 7630) and will also be available on the day.

2010 May concert

This is to be “Encores & Requests”.  Geoff is already working on many great numbers and it is sure to be another memorable concert.  Stay tuned for more information.

Tribute to Turaton by Joan McCaan

There’ll always be a singer

To entertain the crowd

There’s basses and there’s tenors

Who have voices strong and loud

There’s altos and sopranos

Who sing both high and sweet

When Turaton’s about you’ll hear

A million tapping feet

The orchestra, the players

The music and the score

The tension and the excitement

As the crowd streams through the door

The audience is waiting

They know it won’t be long

You’d hear a pin drop, then at last

The choir bursts into song

And now the show is over

You’ve taken one last bow

The final curtain call is done

It’s time to leave – but how?

The patron’s hands are tingling

From all the wild applause

They’ve thrilled to every single note

Tonight their hearts are yours
