Turaton Tattler November 2009
Naudeville was a great success with five performances in total. The audiences loved the show and some even came to see it twice. They were responsive, receptive and appreciative. Our last show was easily the biggest and the weather the nicest – a fitting finale. The cast and crew can take a well earned rest and thanks Ruth for the special guest appearances.
Congratulations to Keith for successfully directing his first show and our music director, Geoff who again delivered something special. Now have you got that key fixed for when ‘The Clock strikes 12’?
Geoff would really love to take a show on
the road. His plan is to start at
Thanks to our stage manager and sparky, Ian and our lighting and sound wizard George. Without their tremendous input we would not be able to put on the great shows we do. Thanks also to Bill for assisting backstage at most of the shows.
Thanks to Ian and Moira for again taping the show to be put onto DVD to show family & friends.
Thanks to Cindy for the hundred’s of photos she took of our performances. There are lots of wonderful shots and some interesting ones too (more on that later).
Thanks Elaine for assisting with costumes.
Thanks to Matt & Justine for their time and great artistic work producing the flyers.
Thanks to all that helped with the last show; at the door, helping with afternoon tea and the many people that delivered plates of glorious food, which we all enjoyed very much.
We are fortunate at Turaton that we have so many people willing and able to assist in a variety of ways – these people make Turaton what it is.
Thank you to Rod & Ingrid for the use of their home and letting us celebrate after the last show, unwind and enjoy. We had a perfect venue, a few drinks, good company and plenty of good food (oh those sweets). It was a very pleasant and relaxing evening enjoyed by all. Now who brings pizza to a BBQ?
Jan must have had too much time looking at the photo’s Cindy took, as she had special ‘awards’ for some ‘lucky’ members who caught her eye. Eg; Mario won the fiercest face, Rod best dancer,
Justine the saddest face (it really was so sad), Keith the best legs, Rod most in need of a hair cut and Ruth for the bloody note. A picture captures an instant in time that sometimes you would rather not.
Practice for the carols - Come and get in the festive spirit and sing some Christmas carols on Monday 7th of December at 7.30pm at The Shed. Geoff said it is likely to only be an hour.
We will be
singing Christmas carols at the following venues:
Tatura, Wednesday 9th of December - meet at 7.10pm at the reserve in the main street of Tatura
Toolamba, Saturday 12th of December – meet 6.45pm at the Community Centre in Toolamba
Mooroopna, Sunday 13th
of December – meet at 7.00pm at
Christmas carols bring joy to so many – if you can make the time your voice would be appreciated.
For those who cannot get to the practice but intend to come to one of the nights, please wear black pants and a long sleeve white shirt – Jan will have a selection of vests available on the night.
Ian and Moira Campbell have again taped the show for us and are putting it onto DVD. It should be available in December sometime and the cost is a very reasonable $10.
Please phone Moira on 03 5857 2568 or email on cruachan@mcmedia.com.au
to place your order.
Congratulations to Catherine Robinson; she became engaged during our rehearsal season to Brenton. We wish them the very best for the future.
Justine Whiting has set her wedding date for February 2010. We wish Justine & Matt a very happy future together. Geoff didn’t want a honeymoon getting in the way of practice in February and was seen trying to negotiate the honeymoon for AFTER the May concert – he stated that “late May was a very good time for a holiday”.
Turaton’s annual general meeting is on
Monday, the 1st of February, 2010 at ‘The Shed’,
Turaton
Mooroopna 3629
Please bring something to share for supper afterwards then Geoff will give us a short first practice for the May concert – please bring black folders.
This is to be ‘Encores & Requests’. Geoff is already working on many great numbers and one very well known song is ‘The Bohemian Rhapsody’. Other new arrangements are; Good Vibrations, Autumn Concerto, Psalm 23, Sweet Caroline and Abba Dabba Honeymoon. This is sure to be magnificent and will be another memorable concert.
Practice will be on Monday’s at 7.30pm sharp for all, from the 8th of February 2010 and alternate Wednesdays for women & men, beginning Wednesday the 10th of February with the women.
Keith said he enjoyed directing his first show this year, but he was only allowed to do half of what he wanted. He is already thinking of items for the next end of year show and would like an Irish theme – now who could be the leprechaun? It is sure to be a lot of fun again.
We wish all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
Bye for now,
